Overview:
Construction Company is seeking a Project Manager/Estimator to ensure high quality work on all projects, communicating goals and directions effectively.
Responsibilities:
- Manage the success of projects from pre-planning meetings all the way to project close out.
- In direct contact with Field Superintendents providing support to ensure a successful completion of each project.
- Preparing and working through any change orders.
- Responsible for various accounting aspects of construction projects. These tasks include monthly invoicing, assisting with receivables collection, understanding owner’s contract provisions, preparing RFI’s, approving invoices, attending progress meetings and job profitability analysis.
- Must demonstrate a working knowledge of the means and methods of open cut civil construction as well as identify advantages, disadvantages, problem areas, costs and profitability of projects during the bidding process.
- Prepare and ensure complete and accurate bid sheets are ready before each bid day, closing bids on bid day, and having thorough understanding of plans and specifications.
- Soliciting subcontractor quotes is also required. This involves maintaining good faith documentation, receiving a minimum of three quotes for subcontract work, evaluation of quotes, and conducting pre-job planning meetings with appropriate colleagues.
Requirements:
- 5+ years’ experience in heavy civil construction, specific to Underground Wet Utilities – Water, Sewer, and Storm Drain.
- Thorough understanding of estimating and bidding process of projects ranging from $50K to $5M.
- Must be able to multi-task in order to manage existing and new projects simultaneously.
- Ability to be self-motivating, dependable, a team player, and perform duties with little supervision.
- Strong computer skills required.
- Experience with HCSS, Heavy Bid, Bid to Win and Viewpoint are desired.
- Must have valid Driver’s License.
